What is happening to energy bills?

Energy suppliers are raising the prices for electricity and gas in the UK. Experts have suggested that “typical energy bills could increase by £700”.

This adds a lot of pressure to households around the UK. There are a few ways in which you can try and keep this cost down, read our top tips below or find out more about the Government’s grants and discounts here

Embrace natural lighting

Embracing natural light is one of the easiest and most effective ways to save money on electricity bills. Allow it to flood in during the day and evening, and minimise the lights you have turned on during the day. The sunlight will compensate for the artificial light. Also, it will naturally heat up your home. For the best effects, open your curtains or blinds during the sunny hours of the day.

Use a dimmer

A dimmer can reduce the amount of electricity you use, as dimmer lights use less electricity. This can also improve the look and feel of your home. There are many benefits to using a dimmer, and many can be controlled on your smartphone or other devices. Take a look at First Lighting’s LED light dimmers today to help you save money!

Switch off lights

As simple as this sounds, switching off lights when not in use can help save you hundreds of pounds every year. Simply turn the lights off as you are leaving a room, and turn them back on as you are entering. Always ensure all lights are turned off before you leave the house and before you go to sleep. Not only will this help you save money on energy bills, but it will also reduce your carbon footprint.
